Superman Arnold and Omega-3

Here we are again. It’s coach Garey, and I have some interesting information for you that I would like to share.

I don’t know about you, but I grew up in the 1950s and the way I learned to read was with comic books. Every week I was down at the drug store picking up the latest edition of Superman, Legion Of Heroes, or actually one of my very favourites, which not too many people know about, but it was Sergeant Fury And The Howling Commandos. About his team of seal team guys. They weren’t called seal team guys in those days, but they were commandos.

And they did the most bizarre things to help try to save the world from Nazi fascists. Superheroes are important in life. And we have our heroes today. Right? We have our way of looking at certain sports figures, maybe it’s, business leaders that we look up to and we try to emulate in some way.

Well, I’ll tell you a story. Back in 2007, this is a good 14 years ago, I attended a health event. It lasted for five days and there were several speakers every single day, at the end of the evening they would have a panel with all the speakers that had spoken that day.

I am not kidding you, when the initial question for each panel was, “What is the one thing that I have to do in order to increase my health, to give me a bigger advantage, to get on the edge of who I am and what I want to be and what I want to do with my life?” Without missing a step every single panelist had the same answer, to begin with, was, “Omega-3 fish oil.”

Take Omega-3 fatty acids supplements every single day

Now, why is that the case? Omega-3s actually are part of who we are. Omega-3, the molecule Omega-3, we can’t create it inside our body, it has to be ingested through the food that we eat, or the supplements we take. And let me get one thing straight right here. There’s no shame in taking supplements rather than getting these materials that we need from supplements. It’s okay.

Supplements are one of the advantages we have living in the 21st century that a lot of these things, the extraction process, cold pressing, all these different ways of imbibing the supplement with the good stuff that we need in our bodies, is done quite easily and quite inexpensively. So, I’m a big propionate, a big fan of taking Omega-3 supplements every single day.

The American Heart Association recommends eating fish twice a week

That’s good. You should eat fish twice a week. However, however, there are drawbacks and there are dangers to eating fish. I guess you know that.

Our oceans are not pristine as they were 4000 or 5000 years ago. Our oceans have a lot of garbage, and junk, and PCBs, and heavy metals, and lead, and mercury. All kinds of nasty things that can actually cause cancer in our bodies. Therefore, when you take a supplement of Omega-3 fish oil, especially something that’s highly purified, it’s going to do you good and not harm.

Omega-3 fatty acids can improve your cardiovascular health

It’s a superpower because it affects your brain, it gives you more clarity of thought and more mental acuity in going about and doing the job that you have to do in your life. Your everyday life. Predominately, people speak about Omega-3s because of the cardiovascular system.

The heart uses the Omega-3 fatty acids as an anti-inflammatory

The big question about whether it’s cholesterol or inflammation, well, let me tell you, I vote on the side of inflammation as being the bad guy in your body, if you get too much of it, and the immune system is overreacting to things.

It can happen that cholesterol can build up as you age. It’s part of the normal aging process. But when that cholesterol becomes oxidized and becomes inflamed, that’s when you can run into trouble and that’s why Omega-3s are so powerful because it has this profound anti-inflammatory effect and it kind of makes you feel a little bit like Superman. Right?

Omega-3 fatty acids may help improve muscle mass and reduce soreness after exercise

The immune system is another reason people take Omega-3s. And believe it or not, I saw a documentary on television the other night, it was objectified. It was about Arnold Schwarzenegger, and being interviewed about his career and his life. And of course, as you probably know, or remember, he was a big Mr. Universe bodybuilding guy that just spent six or seven hours in the gym.

Guess what his secret weapon was? Yes, that’s right. Omega-3s. Because, post-workout, Omega-3s helps the body to put that exercise into the right capacity where your blood is moving better, the inflammation that you may have from a strenuous workout is tamped down by the Omega-3s.

Omega-3 fatty acids can help you to sleep better

We all know that sleep is really, really important. You can get everything else right, and if you don’t sleep well, and you wake up tired and fatigued, that’s not going to do you any good. Omega-3s before bed is not a bad idea.

Omega-3 fatty acids with Magnesium can also help you to sleep better

Magnesium will really help you to have a good night’s sleep. It’s a very relaxing chemical to use in your body to achieve that purpose. Remember, you’re all supermen or women, and you can achieve anything you want to achieve if you put your mind to it, you make a decision that’s what you want, you set your intention and then you go for it.

We’ll talk again soon. Hey, I want to congratulate you for sitting through and listening and learning. Over here we have the video library. It is called the knowledge library. Chock-full of really interesting things that you can continue learning.
