We’ve talked about meds as a formula for health. Remember your meds, M-E-D-S, mind state, exercise, diet, and sleep.

I want to concentrate on one of the greatest, most important healing factors that you have already with you without going to the drug store, and that is the gift of gratitude.

Your Mind State Effects Stress Levels 

Gratitude will negate and completely dissolve grudges, bitterness. You get a chip on your shoulder about somebody at work, you carry that thing around. The person’s left the firm and gone on somewhere else, you still have the chip on your shoulder, and you’re walking around poisoning yourself with bitterness and bad feelings about something that doesn’t even exist anymore.

How many times have you seen this happen in your life? Or your parents’ or your siblings life ?

It just happens so often that we get caught up in the story of things. And it’s because we live in a stressful environment. Our planet is full of stress right now, there’s no arguing that. Stress is a good thing. Stress helps you to achieve, it helps you to accomplish, it helps you to take care of your family.

You get out there and you work hard, you accomplish things, that’s all important. But there’s a practice that every metaphysician will tell you about and your regular physician should also be telling you about.

What Are You Grateful For?

When you wake up in the morning, a practice that I have is to think about at least one thing that I’m really grateful for. I have plenty of things to be grateful for, my health, obviously, I’m grateful for my health. I’m grateful for my kids. I’m grateful for my mom. I’m grateful for having really fun, engaging work to do, working with people that are creative and lovely. And even if there’s a rough patch going on in your life, if you’re really having difficulty and find it hard to be grateful for anything, well, just look at your hands.

Look at those fingernails at the tip of your fingers. If you didn’t have these fingernails, where would your fingers be? How much shorter would they be if you didn’t have those fingernails protecting the tips of your fingers?

There are so many amazing, miraculous things going on in your body, your skin, the transdermal nature where you’re exuding the toxins and the carbon dioxide right out of your skin, and you’re breathing in, your skin breathes in and takes in sunshine. You get vitamin D through your skin, through being in the sunshine. There are so many wonderful things to be grateful for. Before you go to bed tonight, I want you to think of one thing that you’re grateful for.
