Is Omega-3 Good For Your Kids?

Just as it would happen, I was out on my morning walk, taking in those vitamin D sunshiny rays from the sun. Early in the morning, we had a perfect blue sky, and it was just impossible not to go out and have a nice long walk.

After about three miles on the way back, my dog spotted some movement across the railroad tracks in the woods, and I stopped to see what she was noticing. And she sat down on her haunches, and she began watching her version of TV. There were pups in the woods.

First, I thought they were squirrels, but they were a little too big for squirrels, a little too fat, wide. I thought maybe they’re fox pups. Sure enough, there were about five of them. Of course, I don’t know if they were pups or kits, but basically, there were five of them, at least, if not, maybe a couple more hiding up in the top of the ridge of the woods. And we just sat there and watched them play and frolic in that beautiful sunshine. And the reason I’m bringing this up, those were newborn infant pups, and I’m going to talk about how important brain development is in all mammals and why the mother’s breast milk is so absolutely important.

After about 10 minutes of watching these pups frolic around, we moved on a little bit, and there was the mother about 20 yards away, sitting at the top of the ridge like a statue with that perfect, beautiful vixen face, keeping an eye on her pups and not going to let anything to disturb their playtime in the sunshine.

I am the father of 10 kids, I’m going to get into it a little bit more, but I have several stories of actually being with my wife during birth and how exciting it is and how amazing and miraculous and unbelievable the whole experience is. But in the terms of development of the brain and function and life itself, there is nothing better than a mother’s breast milk. And it’s really important that mommies take really good care of themselves, and that’s daddy’s job is to help mommy to get the nourishment she needs, even as crazy as it sounds. She might want potato chips and ice cream in the middle of the night, get it for her because she is constructing and building a human being and gestating. And whatever it is her desires are, just believe that it’s going to be good for her, and there’s something in there that she needs.

That’s rule number one. Number two, absolutely prenatal vitamins, there’s a lot of science behind prenatal vitamins, and probably the most important ingredient in my book is DHA omega-3 because that is the fats in brain cells that actually provide the sheath and the covering for the neurons, the nervous system’s wiring. So for the signals to flow, for the signals to do their job for the information to get passed properly, you need those neurons protected properly.

The way the body protects them is through fats.

DHA is the polyunsaturated fat that actually provides… Out of the 60 to 70% of fats that are in the brain, 40% of that is absolutely DHA. These are substantiated claims I’m making, you can look it up on PubMed and various other scientific documents to show how important DHA is for the prenatal time of gestation in the womb and for the brain development post-birth, where we hope that it’s possible for the mommy to breastfeed as long as possible.

That’s the introduction to this. I’m going to talk a little bit more about it in the next video, but we need to take care of our mothers.

And to that end, I’ve created several supplements on Optimal Health Bridge that will help you to live well and help you to live better.
