One of my favorite Omega-3 proponents is Dr. Dave Woynarowski. He has a business selling high potency fish oil and uses high potency fish oil in his daily practice. Here’s an excerpt from an email sent to me in 2017.
In what is a long overdue report, a Norwegian study examined “high dose” fish oil and found it to be completely safe.
Now their version of high dose was just shy of 7 grams a day, which is right in the ballpark for getting most Americans and other westerners into the 4 to 1 Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio. Personally I shoot for 1 to 1 and take far higher doses on a regular basis.
The good news about the Norwegian study is that it is the first to far exceed the usual subpar dose of 1.5 grams a day (European) and 2 grams a week (American Heart Association). [Editor’s Note: Imagine 2 grams a week vs 6 grams a day]
While I am no fan of socialized medicine as in Norway, it does have a few advantages. One is that large scale population-based studies can be done by medical doctors. The other is that they are constantly looking for ways to reduce their pharmaceutical drug costs.
If everyone in this country took 6 grams of fish oil a day it would reduce the gross income of Big Pharma to that of third world nations and we can’t have that now, can we! It was recently estimated that even a smaller daily dose could prevent up to 250,000 American deaths a year.
I guess we can’t have that either.

Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) PROTECT cholesterol in the bloodstream from OXIDATION… Oxidized Cholesterol becomes inflamed. Inflammation in the blood stream leads to chronic disease. It’s kind of like a puzzle but the body line is take your Omega-3 daily. Take high quality. Take Omega-3 oils that are NOT rancid. Live long, live strong and all that good stuff!
