What is the one common denominator?
 
We can have it, if…

… we are willing to do a few small things.

You are what you eat.
You are what you think.
You are what you do.

You are what you eat: According to Phrases.org.uk, “This phrase has come to us via quite a tortuous route. Anthelme Brillat-Savarin wrote, in Physiologie du Gout, ou Meditations de Gastronomie Transcendante, 1826:

“Dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu es.” [Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are].   In an essay titled Concerning Spiritualism and Materialism, 1863/4, Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach wrote:

“Der Mensch ist, was er ißt.”   That translates into English as ‘man is what he eats’.

Neither Brillat-Savarin or Feuerbach meant their quotations to be taken literally. They were stating that that the food one eats has a bearing on what one’s state of mind and health.

The actual phrase didn’t emerge in English until some time later. In the 1920s and 30s, the nutritionist Victor Lindlahr, who was a strong believer in the idea that food controls health, developed the Catabolic Diet.

That view gained some adherents at the time and the earliest known printed example is from an advert for beef in a 1923 edition of the Bridgeport Telegraph, for ‘United Meet [sic] Markets':

“Ninety per cent of the diseases known to man are caused by cheap foodstuffs. You are what you eat.”

There are about 40 – 50 micronutrients that enable us to live. Without them, we won’t live well and we won’t live long.

You know the macronutrient foods: Carbohydrates, Fatty Acids, Protein.

Your body will manufacture many of the micro- nutrients but there are some that you cannot make and must be ingested by eating good stuff.

Nutrition is the base material from which your body has the ability to carry on life processes.

One of the least understood of the Macronutrients is Fatty Acids, or just plain simple fat.

Fat comes in various forms: polyunsaturated, monounsaturated,saturated fats and the latest man-made version – trans fats. We all need some saturated fats to help with hormone production and cell integrity. But mostly we use polyunsaturated fats to stay alive and to live well. The most important and the most neglected is Omega-3s.

Your brain, eyes, heart and immune system all need Omega-3s. Trust me on that.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK

You are what you think: Similarly to ‘You are what you eat’, it is also true that you are what you think. So much of our lives and health are wrapped up in our attitude towards life.

James Allen wrote, “As a man thinks, so is he.” And,

“A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.”

Positive people live longer than people with a negative attitude. Life isn’t always pleasant and how one handles stress and anxiety are important. If you can do so with grace and graciousness, then you are going to do well in life.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU DO

You are what you do: Thinking good thoughts is one thing. Taking action and doing good deeds is yet another. Thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to actions, actions lead to results. It’s been said you reap what you sow. Certainly, it’s true for the farmer. You sow wheat, you get a crop of wheat. You sow corn, you get a crop of corn. But it’s also true in other aspects of life as well.

You sow kindness, you get kindness returned to you. If someone shows anger, isn’t just a little too easy to reciprocate that feeling? We see this nearly everyday in rush hour traffic!

Here is a little secret, the one common denominator: High DHA Omega-3 can help on all three levels of helping us to be the best we can be.

    Does taking krill oil affect brain health, because upon reading some articles about these, I found out that it has certain specific benefits for brain health.

      Krill Oil due to its phospholipids allows the ingredients to pass through the blood brain barrier. So yes there is nutrition for the brain and benefits for the brain in taking krill oil.
